Joyce M Sanders is a Dallas based photographer and writer.
Gifted with a flair for the creative, Joyce began her journey into writing as a child, having developed a love for poetry early in life. Inspired by events of the times, she spent much of her childhood with pen and paper in hand writing poems, songs, and stories—reflections of her observations and experiences. In high school, she began to focus more on essay and article writing, and has written prolifically over the years.
While in college, Joyce developed an interest in photography. She bought her first 35mm camera and set out to explore the world of photography. What a wonderful world it turned out to be! She quickly discovered photography was another talent she possessed and another artistic avenue she should pursue.
In the late 80’s, Joyce embarked on a exciting journey as a jazz journalist, receiving widespread acclaim for her images of jazz artists. Her photos have been published and exhibited nationally, and have become the choice picks for many of her well-known subjects. While building her reputation with jazz, her growing portfolio has been quite diverse.
Though photography has been a rewarding venture, Joyce never lost sight of her dream of becoming a published author. In recent years she refocused her creativity and returned to her first love. Fulfilling her publishing dream, in December 2006 she proudly released “Three Steps Forward – Poetry of Everyday Life”. Her second book, “Divergent Paths”, was released in Dec. 2009.
Armed with the knowledge and skills gained in publishing her own book, Joyce set out to help aspiring authors fulfill their goals of being published, and is proud to have lent a hand in launching the books of several other up-and-coming authors.
Joyce’s other creative interests include web design, lyric writing, videography, and drumming.
